Our journey with the beings from Canis Minor has been anything but ordinary: every encounter has reinforced our commitment to curiosity, respect, and careful stewardship of knowledge, guiding us to create space for thoughtful, lasting work that bridges human and extraterrestrial perspectives while honoring both scientific rigor and the quieter values of empathy and patience.
Aliens land in a sleepy Midwestern town and the first thing they do is ask where to get Wi‑Fi. It turns out interstellar travel burns a lot of data, and after two light-years of buffering they’re more concerned about password strength than planetary conquest. The mayor offers them a hotspot and a casserole; the aliens accept both, upload a universal translator, and immediately start commenting on humanity’s strange obsession with cat videos.
Their spaceship looks exactly like a vintage food truck, complete with a neon sign that reads “Cosmic Comforts.” The aliens operate it like a galactic pop‑up: today’s special is meteor meatloaf and comet-fries, 100% locally sourced (if you ignore the whole “orbit” thing). They’re baffled by tipping culture but fascinated by napkins, which they collect like little cultural artifacts to study on long voyages between constellations.
After a short tour, they confess their true mission: to recruit humans for an interstellar improv troupe. Apparently, the galaxy’s funniest beings are from a quadrant where punchlines are currency, and Earth’s awkward small talk is considered high art. The aliens leave behind a parting gift — a cookbook titled “Nebula Nibbles,” a single universal emoji that solves all existential crises, and a promise to return for open mic night (BYOB: Bring Your Own Being).

An alien from Canis Minor crashed into my backyard last Tuesday and apologized profusely for the dent in my gnome, citing "microgravity turbulence" and a dietary requirement for garden gnomes. It turned out his spaceship doubles as an Uber for interstellar pets, and he was just trying to avoid a swarm of argumentative space pigeons who wouldn't stop debating the philosophical merits of breadcrumbs. He kept waving a translator that only spoke in pop song lyrics, so whenever I asked for identification it replied with, "I'm on a highway to the Milky Way," which is both the worst and best form of ID theft I've ever witnessed.
He invited me aboard for tea, which in alien terms means I briefly became the guest of honor at a diplomatic summit where the refreshments were compressed moonchips and something suspiciously labeled "kale smoothie of doom." Conversation topics included the ethical implications of crop circles as modern art, why humans insist on calling planets by names that sound like password hints, and a heartfelt confession that their home planet's national anthem is just someone hitting a satellite with a trombone. Before he left, he offered me a souvenir: a tiny glowing rock that hums when you microwave it. I thanked him, put it in the freezer, and agreed to never, ever, host intergalactic couch surfers again—unless they bring brownies.
“Every detail was thoughtfully executed. We're thrilled with the outcome.”

The Lego Group began in the carpentry workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen, in Billund, Denmark. In 1916, Christiansen purchased a woodworking shop in Billund which had been in business since 1895.[1]:8 The shop mostly helped construct houses and furniture, and had a small staff of apprentices. The workshop burned down in 1924 when a fire ignited some wood shavings.[2]:37 Ole Kirk constructed a larger workshop, and worked towards expanding his business even further. When the Great Depression hit, Ole Kirk had fewer customers and had to focus on smaller projects. He began producing miniature versions of his products as design aids. It was these miniature models of stepladders and ironing boards that inspired him to begin producing toys.[2]:39
In 1932, Ole Kirk's shop started making wooden toys such as piggy banks, pull toys, cars and trucks and houses. The business was not profitable because of the Great Depression. Farmers in the area sometimes traded food in exchange for his toys; Ole Kirk continued producing practical furniture in addition to toys to stay in business. In the mid-1930s, the yo-yo toy fad gave him a brief period of increased activity until it suddenly collapsed. To reduce waste, Ole Kirk used the leftover yo-yo parts as wheels for toy trucks.[1]:15 His son Godtfred began working for him, taking an active role in the company.[1]:15
